Work Management Systems Engineer

Blackbaud India is seeking an experienced Azure DevOps & Atlassian Jira Administrator to join our team in Hyderabad / Secunderabad, Telangana. This critical role focuses on maturing our engineering work management ecosystem, ensuring the reliable, scalable, and secure administration, configuration, and governance of enterprise-grade work management platforms, specifically Azure DevOps (ADO) and Jira. You will play a key part in shaping standards, driving operational excellence, and enforcing data hygiene and governance practices to support engineering, product, and project delivery at scale. This position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to guide tooling strategy, optimize processes, and enhance the daily user experience for ADO and Jira.

Key Responsibilities:

Platform Administration & Governance

• Oversee the administration, configuration, and lifecycle management of Azure DevOps and Atlassian Jira, including projects, boards, workflows, permissions, integrations, and automations.
• Ensure adherence to established Azure DevOps governance practices and data hygiene expectations, supporting work item hierarchy, backlog structures, and work tracking standards.
• Define and enforce usage standards, fields, templates, and workflows to maintain consistency and enable reliable reporting across teams.

Engineering & Delivery Support

• Collaborate with product, engineering, and delivery leaders to optimize the use of work management tools for Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, and hybrid methodologies.
• Provide expert guidance on backlog management, user story structures, acceptance criteria alignment, and traceability from ideation to deployment.
• Maintain secure, scalable, and well-documented integrations between ADO, Jira, Git repos, pipelines, and adjacent systems.

User Enablement & Training

• Develop and deliver training, onboarding materials, and documentation to enhance team adoption and maturity of work management practices.
• Support the onboarding of new groups into ADO and Jira, applying best practices and governance guidance.
• Offer hands-on troubleshooting assistance, coaching, and advisory support to users at all organizational levels.

Automation, Reporting & Optimization

• Develop dashboards, queries, filters, workflows, and automations to increase transparency and minimize manual effort.
• Partner with engineering leadership to ensure high-quality reporting on backlog health, forecasting, velocity, and delivery insights.
• Analyze tool usage patterns and propose enhancements or standardization opportunities to improve overall delivery efficiency.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience administering Azure DevOps and Atlassian Jira in complex enterprise environments.
• Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and scaled Agile frameworks.
• Proven experience in designing workflows, permission models, project structures, and field configurations.
• Proficiency with ADO Boards, Repos, Pipelines, and integrations with Git-based source control.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams to ensure accurate work item hygiene, traceability, and progress reporting.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills across permissions, workflows, automation, and integrations.
• Experience in creating documentation, onboarding content, and user training programs.
• Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and engage with users across all organizational levels.
• Flexibility to work non-standard hours as required by business priorities.
