WordPress Developer - Kolkata

Red Apple Technologies Pvt Ltd is seeking an experienced WordPress Developer for their Kolkata office. This is a full-time, Work From Office (WFO) position with a 5-day work week.

As a WordPress Developer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end development and maintenance of WordPress websites. Your role will involve translating design concepts from PSD or Figma files into functional HTML, and subsequently converting that HTML into dynamic WordPress themes and plugins. You will collaborate closely with design and marketing teams to deliver high-performance, user-friendly, and optimized web experiences.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement features and functionality for WordPress websites.
• Customize existing themes and plugins or develop new ones to meet client specifications.
• Build and maintain WordPress-based websites using current technologies and best practices.
• Collaborate with designers, marketing, and fellow developers to ensure optimal user experience.
• Optimize websites for speed, performance, and search engine optimization (SEO), employing techniques like caching and script minimization.
• Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve issues across existing WordPress websites.
• Implement WordPress security best practices to safeguard against common threats, utilizing security plugins and manual hardening methods.
• Participate in the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design to coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code adhering to industry standards.
• Conduct code reviews to maintain quality and consistency.
• Stay abreast of the latest trends and technologies in WordPress development.
• Proficiency in PHP programming is essential.
• Strong understanding of front-end technologies including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery.
• Experience building responsive and mobile-friendly websites.
• Familiarity with MySQL database management is required.
• Experience with PHP and MySQL is necessary for backend tasks such as database management and implementing advanced functionalities.
• Experience with REST API and AJAX is a plus.
• Knowledge of version control systems like Git is required.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
• Knowledge of other PHP CMS platforms such as Magento and Joomla is advantageous.
• Experience in WordPress theme and plugin development/customization is highly desirable.
• Strong communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in WordPress development, supported by a strong portfolio showcasing custom theme and plugin development.
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
• Extensive experience with WordPress theme development, including responsive design principles.
• Expertise in customizing and extending WordPress functionality using hooks, filters, and APIs.
• Solid understanding of WordPress core concepts, including custom post types, taxonomies, and custom fields.
• Experience with popular WordPress plugins and frameworks like WooCommerce, ACF (Advanced Custom Fields), and WPML (WordPress Multilingual Plugin).
• Strong problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects concurrently.
