Windows Kernel Driver Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Windows Kernel Driver Engineer to develop Everest's critical kernel-mode component. You will build a minifilter driver that intercepts file system I/O (IRPs) to enable seamless, transparent cloud tiering of surveillance video.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement robust Windows minifilter drivers using the WDK.
  
• Handle complete IRP lifecycles including asynchronous completion for cloud fetch operations.
  
• Write high-performance kernel-mode C/C++ adhering to strict IRQL constraints and synchronization primitives.
  
• Debug complex driver issues utilizing WinDbg, kernel dumps, and Driver Verifier.
  
• Manage filter altitude registration within the I/O stack architecture.

  Mandatory Skills

  • Demonstrated expertise in WDK minifilter development.
    
  • Deep understanding of IRP handling routines (read/write/create) including pending/async patterns.
    
  • Advanced proficiency in C/C++ for kernel-mode programming.
    
  • Expertise in Kernel debugging with WinDbg and driver certification processes.

    Good-to-Have

    • Familiarity with ProjFS, Storport, or hierarchical storage management (HSM) architectures.
      
    • Experience with WPP/ETW tracing for production diagnostics.
