Windows Desktop Migration Engineer
Full Job Description
We are seeking a Windows Desktop Migration Engineer (Consultant) to lead the NDS.Next initiative, migrating on-premises virtual desktops to Azure-hosted environments. This full-time, remote role in Mexico requires 5–8 years of experience, with a minimum of 3 years in Windows desktop migration (planning, cutover, validation, and post-migration support).
The ideal candidate will execute migrations at scale using a standardized factory model, validate end-user functionality (M365 Suite, internal apps, line-of-business tools), and troubleshoot issues across Windows, applications, and configurations. Collaboration with cross-functional teams—including helpdesk, engineering, and operations—is essential.
Key responsibilities include:
- Following the factory playbook to migrate users, track progress, and ensure business-critical applications function correctly.
- Performing application testing, defect reproduction, and regression checks before/after migration.
- Debugging and resolving issues via logs, configs, and repro steps, with clear communication to non-technical stakeholders.
- Generating structured reports on workload status, risks, and blockers.
Must-have skills:
- Strong Windows desktop and cloud application expertise.
- Proficiency in Python/Java for automation and diagnostics.
- Deep knowledge of Azure VMs, validation rules, and application testing.
- Excellent written/verbal communication for technical and user-facing updates.
- Strong project management skills with a focus on process adherence and accurate reporting.
