Role Overview:

The Site Safety Officer at Amazon Robotics in Delhi, India, will play a crucial role in partnering with site operations teams within a Fulfillment Center. The primary responsibility is to execute company safety policies and ensure strict adherence to all applicable local and regional regulations. Leveraging lean principles and Kaizen methodologies, this individual will spearhead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing conditional and ergonomic risks within our operational processes, thereby ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for all Associates.

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, capable of building trust and confidence with the Operations Team. Influencing change will be achieved through comprehensive risk assessments and robust safety data analysis. Clear, concise, and consistent messaging, both verbally and in writing, is essential. This role involves instructing and training Operations Leaders on company safety policies and assisting site teams in integrating these safety standards.

Furthermore, the Site Safety Officer will be tasked with identifying and incorporating best practices into our existing safety policies to drive continuous improvement. A deep understanding of safety programs, along with relevant safety, environmental, and ergonomic knowledge, is expected. Expertise will be demonstrated in all interactions with Operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with all Amazon Safety Policies.
  • Measure site performance against published safety policy requirements and develop corrective action plans for deficiencies.
  • Deliver projects to Operations on time and to a high quality standard.
  • Analyze safety metrics and review weekly/monthly incident trends to identify areas of highest safety risk and justify resource allocation.
  • Conduct frequent site safety audits to identify non-compliant equipment and/or processes, implementing solutions to prevent injuries across other Fulfillment Centers.
  • Audit recordkeeping practices and Global Safety Database entries for compliance with global safety standards and local regulations.
  • Audit workplace organization and Associate behaviors to ensure accuracy and consistency in training, auditing, and scoring methods.
  • Manage and mentor Safety Associates within the assigned Fulfillment Center.
  • Engage with Safety teams, Associates, and leaders within Fulfillment Centers to gather input on safety program improvement opportunities, ensuring transparent communication on progress and resolutions.
  • Ensure site leadership and Associates are trained and knowledgeable of their responsibilities under each policy. Audit the quality, delivery, and effectiveness of all required safety training.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in Electrical/Mechanical/Electronics and Communication/Instrumentation and Controls.
  • Minimum of 2 years of increasing responsibility in EHS or environmental programs within manufacturing, production, or service operations, OR a Bachelor's degree in safety, environmental, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in reputable organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple direct reports.
  • Flexibility regarding work shifts is required.
  • Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment.
  • Nebosh/ADIS certification or any Bachelor's Degree with relevant safety experience is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a Fulfillment Center, Manufacturing, Construction, or Supply Chain Management environment.
  • Safety experience with a mix of exempt and non-exempt employees at a site with at least 200 people is preferred.
  • A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic, and growing organization.
  • A Safety Certified Professional designation is preferred.
  • Ability to develop and implement departmental goals and strategies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Adaptability to fast-paced environments with evolving circumstances, direction, and strategy.
