Abiding Technical Services LLC in Chennai, Tamil Nadu is seeking a skilled VMware Support Engineer to join their team. This full-time, in-person role offers a dynamic environment for professionals passionate about virtualization technology.

Primary Responsibilities:

For All Positions:

  • Provide comprehensive 24x7x365 technical support for VMware vSphere environments.
  • Execute patch management and security update procedures.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex virtualization issues.
  • Proactively monitor system health and performance metrics.
  • Manage and maintain support tickets throughout their lifecycle.
  • Ensure timely responses to critical incidents, adhering to Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Team Lead / Senior Engineer (Additional):

  • Oversee team operations and contribute to strategic planning.
  • Manage escalations and high-priority critical issues.
  • Conduct thorough security assessments of the VMware infrastructure.
  • Review and report on SLA compliance.
  • Prepare and present executive-level reports.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineering staff.

Senior Support Engineer (Additional):

  • Handle advanced technical escalations.
  • Design and implement solutions for system optimization.
  • Conduct in-depth system assessments.
  • Provide support to the team lead on critical issues.

Key Requirements:

MUST HAVE (Non-Negotiable):

Certifications:

  • VCP on vSphere 8 (VMware Certified Professional) or VCP on vSphere 7 with a confirmed plan to upgrade to 8. Proof of valid certificate or commitment to pass by [DATE] is required.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification is required for at least one team member, demonstrating fundamental security knowledge and satisfying client compliance requirements (Annexure-B).

Experience:

  • Minimum 2-5 years of hands-on VMware vSphere administration experience.
  • Team Lead candidates require 10+ years of experience.
  • Senior Engineer candidates require 5+ years of experience.
  • Support Engineer candidates require 2+ years of experience.
  • Proven experience supporting production vSphere environments.
  • Proficiency in vCenter administration, ESXi host management, virtual machine provisioning and management, and performance monitoring & optimization.

Technical Skills:

  • Deep understanding of vSphere architecture.
  • Knowledge of Linux/ESXi operating systems.
  • Familiarity with networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, firewalls, VLANs).
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience with patch management.

Strongly Recommended:

Certifications:

  • VCAP-DCV (VMware Certified Advanced Professional), especially for Team Lead and Senior Engineer roles.
  • Network+ or CCNA (CompTIA/Cisco) to demonstrate networking expertise.
  • RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Administrator) for Linux system administration knowledge.
  • Microsoft Azure or AWS certifications for cloud infrastructure knowledge.

Experience:

  • Experience with vSAN or NSX is a plus.
  • Familiarity with VMware vCenter automation/orchestration.
  • Scripting skills in PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk, Zabbix, etc.
  • Experience with incident management systems.
  • Experience in large enterprise environments (1000+ employees).
