VMware Support Engineer Opportunity in Chennai

AGAN Cyber Security LLC is seeking a skilled VMware Support Engineer to join our team in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. This role is crucial for maintaining and enhancing our clients' virtual environments, ensuring high availability and security.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive 24x7x365 technical support for VMware vSphere environments.
  • Oversee patch management and security updates to maintain system integrity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex virtualization issues efficiently.
  • Proactively monitor system health, performance, and availability.
  • Create, manage, and track support tickets throughout their lifecycle.
  • Ensure timely response and resolution of critical incidents within defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Additional Responsibilities for Leadership and Senior Roles

Team Lead / Senior Engineer

  • Lead team operations, define strategy, and drive performance.
  • Manage escalations and oversee the resolution of critical issues.
  • Conduct thorough security assessments of the vSphere environment.
  • Review and ensure compliance with SLA targets.
  • Prepare and present executive-level reports on system performance and security.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering their professional development.

Senior Support Engineer

  • Handle advanced technical escalations and provide expert solutions.
  • Design and implement solutions for performance optimization and efficiency.
  • Conduct in-depth system assessments to identify potential risks and improvements.
  • Provide critical support to the Team Lead on complex and high-priority issues.

Key Requirements for VMware Support Engineers

Mandatory (Non-Negotiable)

Certifications
  • VCP on vSphere 8 (VMware Certified Professional) or VCP on vSphere 7 with a commitment to upgrade by a specified date. Proof of certification or commitment is required.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification is required for at least one team member, demonstrating fundamental security knowledge and fulfilling client compliance requirements (Annexure-B).
Experience
  • Minimum 2-5 years of hands-on experience in VMware vSphere administration.
  • Team Lead requires 10+ years of experience.
  • Senior Engineer requires 5+ years of experience.
  • Support Engineer requires 2+ years of experience.
  • Proven experience supporting production vSphere environments is essential.
Technical Expertise
  • Proficiency in vCenter administration.
  • Experience with ESXi host management.
  • Hands-on experience in virtual machine provisioning and management.
  • Strong understanding of performance monitoring and optimization techniques.
  • Deep knowledge of vSphere architecture.
  • Familiarity with Linux/ESXi operating systems.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, firewalls, and VLANs.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience with patch management processes.

Strongly Recommended Qualifications

Certifications
  • VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP-DCV), especially for Team Lead and Senior Engineer roles.
  • CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA, demonstrating networking expertise.
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), indicating Linux system administration knowledge.
  • Microsoft Azure or AWS certifications, highlighting cloud infrastructure knowledge.
Additional Experience
  • Experience with vSAN or NSX is considered a bonus.
  • Proficiency in VMware vCenter automation/orchestration.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools like Splunk, Zabbix, etc.
  • Experience with incident management systems.
  • Experience supporting large enterprise environments (1000+ employees).
