Vice President

BNY Mellon is seeking a Vice President, Data Scientist I for its Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India team. This role involves mining valuable data, utilizing machine learning for feature selection and classifier optimization, and preprocessing structured and unstructured data. You will enhance data collection for analytical systems, process and cleanse data for quality, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve business outcomes. Responsibilities include creating and applying custom data models and algorithms, staying current with AI research, and ensuring ethical AI development practices focused on fairness, transparency, and privacy.

Key responsibilities include leading the design, development, and implementation of Large Language Models (LLMs) and Machine Learning (ML) models for Natural Language Processing (NLP) applications. You will work with teams to define requirements, conduct experiments, and evaluate model performance and scalability. Staying updated on LLM, ML, and NLP advancements is crucial for enhancing products and services. Mentoring junior engineers and providing technical guidance on best practices are also expected.

To succeed, a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required. Knowledge of the financial domain and investment banking is a plus. Candidates should possess strong data understanding, working knowledge of Big Data technologies for AI/ML, and expertise in statistics, probability, and evaluation metrics. Proven experience in building machine learning models, including data preparation, feature engineering, and applying ML algorithms to solve real-world problems is essential. Proficiency in Python and common ML/AI frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, and Scikit-learn is required. Experience with the Data Science development lifecycle, agile methodologies, and staying current with AI research trends is necessary. Expertise in handling large, complex datasets and uncovering strategic insights through data visualization and dashboard creation is also key.
