Deloitte's DT-US Product Engineering team in New York, NY, is looking for a skilled UX Visual Designer to craft elegant, user-centered design solutions. This role is pivotal in creating compelling visual elements and UI production for products, ensuring functionality and aesthetic appeal. You will collaborate closely with diverse teams, driving innovation in visual design and contributing to a unified user experience through our Design Systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and execute visual design and UI production for designated product areas, aiming to create delightful, functional, and memorable user experiences.
- Lead the exploration and finalization of design aesthetics, from initial concepts to polished visual execution.
- Develop high-quality visual concepts, sketches, and detailed designs.
- Contribute significantly to design frameworks, including our Design Systems, to ensure cohesive and visually consistent user experiences.
- Create essential graphic assets, such as user interfaces, icons, and comprehensive visual mockups.
- Actively participate in and evolve our UI Design System by developing and maintaining reusable components, iconography, and visual patterns, complete with variants, states, and clear usage documentation.
- Design and refine icon sets and component visuals to guarantee consistency, accessibility, and scalability across all products and platforms.
- Collaborate effectively with UX designers throughout the design and iteration process.
- Engage with product teams from concept inception through final production, documenting visual design guidelines.
- Present sophisticated visual design concepts and effectively communicate innovative ideas to stakeholders.
- Partner closely with engineers to ensure seamless interface implementation and bring design visions to life.
- Collaborate with user researchers to influence insight studies and address unresolved interface problems and user needs.
- Continuously assess design effectiveness, monitor success metrics, and recommend data-driven improvements.
- Embrace a curious and experimental mindset, asking insightful questions and championing novel ideas.
- Stay abreast of the latest trends, best practices, and methodologies in UX, information architecture, and UI design.
- Produce visual communication deliverables, such as product decks, one-pagers, and infographics, to facilitate stakeholder alignment, roadmap storytelling, and design rationales.
- Create simple motion and animation assets to illustrate interaction intent and enhance product storytelling, as needed.
What You'll Bring:
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional or educational experience in UX/UI design, with a strong background in digital design and creating simple, intuitive, and elegant user interfaces based on usability principles.
- A robust foundation in design fundamentals, applicable across diverse digital platforms.
- An imaginative yet pragmatic approach, adept at balancing creative vision with practical implementation.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to transition fluidly between strategic thinking and detailed execution.
- Proficiency in aligning business objectives with design strategies, incorporating user feedback to elevate both visual design and interaction.
- The ability to inspire and influence through exceptional design work, consistently setting high standards.
- Expertise in designing visual comps, UIs, and cohesive visual systems.
- A deep understanding of information architecture, UI design principles, interaction design, user research methodologies, and style guide creation.
- Outstanding interpersonal and presentation skills, capable of articulating design concepts and rationale to cross-functional teams and executives.
- A genuine passion for solving user pain points through thoughtful and impactful design.
- A collaborative, open-minded, and growth-oriented attitude, eager to learn and contribute positively.
- Agility in iterating designs quickly and incorporating feedback for continuous improvement.
- Expert knowledge of industry-standard design tools (e.g., Adobe CC, Sketch, Figma, Zeplin, InVision).
- Proven experience supporting or contributing to design systems, including creating and maintaining UI components and iconography.
- Strong visual communication ('deck craft') skills for creating clear, executive-ready presentations and storytelling artifacts.
- Working capability with animation/motion tools and principles to communicate interaction and enhance product narratives.
- A BA/BS degree in Graphic Design, Design Communication, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A portfolio or work samples demonstrating visual design skills and relevant experience is mandatory.
