Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of this role involves translating and localizing high-level documents between German and English, meticulously preserving the original style and tone. A key aspect includes conducting primary and secondary research to gather pertinent financial information. This position also requires addressing client queries from both internal and external sources with accuracy, completeness, and timeliness. You will be responsible for the quality assurance of all translated and localized materials, as well as creating and maintaining language glossaries, dictionaries, and translation memories. Drafting language-specific style guides based on project requirements is also part of the role. The position demands meeting predefined individual and team targets, ensuring the delivery of high-quality outcomes. Staying updated on the latest translation and research guidelines and policies is essential. Daily reporting of work performed in designated tools and promptly fixing errors based on quality feedback are also required. This role will involve participating in the development and execution of projects to expand market information and data coverage, testing new tools and applications to enhance productivity, and ideating and executing process improvement and automation projects. Timely escalation of concerns through the correct communication channels and appropriate responses to communications from colleagues and management are expected. Collaboration with other data sets and stakeholders will support the team's expansion and transformation goals.
What We Are Looking For
Basic Qualifications
- Proficiency or native competency in German and English. Fluency in other languages is a plus.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience as a translator.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and German, with familiarity in German financial markets.
- A strong understanding of accounting and financial subject matter, concepts, and terms. Preferred knowledge of financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, etc.), key financial ratios, and other market-related data.
- Good analytical skills for conducting thorough and objective research, coupled with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in internet research and desktop applications, including Microsoft Office 365 (MS Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook).
- The ability to interact professionally with various levels of stakeholders and handle issues maturely, demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills for effective cross-team communication.
- Capability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and meet work deadlines, service level agreements, and set targets.
- An inquisitive and investigative nature, with a proactive, highly motivated, and positive attitude.
- Comfort and willingness to learn modern technologies, processes, and tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Language proficiency certification is desirable.
- Proven experience in active participation in translation and localization projects, especially within the financial industry or markets.
- Experience with Lean principles, automation, and machine translation.
- Knowledge of SQL, Python, and VBA Macro is considered a plus.
