Trade Compliance Specialist - Gurgaon, India
IFF is seeking a dedicated and passionate Trade Compliance Specialist to join our Pharma Solutions team in Gurgaon, India. This role is a key part of our global Ingredients business, where innovation meets science to create impactful solutions.
Your Focus
As a Trade Compliance Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to manage import and export activities, ensuring full compliance with all local and global regulatory requirements, as well as internal policies and procedures, in an efficient and effective manner. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Regional Trade Asia Pacific.
How you will contribute
- Maintain a thorough understanding of local and international trade laws and regulations.
- Oversee and communicate regulatory changes, developing best practices to ensure compliance.
- Provide expert trade-related advice to the business on a daily basis, including HS code classification, Incoterm explanations, and special scheme utilization.
- Liaise with and represent the company in communications with local Customs authorities as needed.
- Support business projects by developing compliant trade solutions tailored to specific requirements, such as Special Economic Zone initiatives.
- Drive cost savings, particularly in customs duty reductions through Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), duty incentives, and other applicable programs.
- Lead internal and external trade-related audits within India.
- Conduct training sessions for internal stakeholders to enhance awareness and understanding of trade regulations.
- Monitor, track, and report key import and export metrics for India.
- Manage and regularly review the performance of customs brokers.
- Collaborate with the Global Trade team and actively participate in global projects.
What you will need to be successful
- A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Logistics, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in import and export operations.
- Proficiency in SAP for trade-related processes.
- Project management experience is a preferred asset.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A strong team player with high ethical standards.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities.
- An open mindset, adaptability to change, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Note on Business Transition: The Pharma Solutions business is transitioning to Roquette, expected to close in the first half of 2025, pending regulatory approvals. This position is part of the Pharma Solutions business unit and will transition to Roquette upon closing.
