Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Team Leader in Medical Coding with deep expertise in multispeciality coding and Evaluation & Management (E/M) guidelines. Based in our Egmore location, you will lead a team of coders to ensure billing accuracy, compliance with ICD-10-CM/CPT/HCPCS standards, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform complex E&M coding reviews and audits; make final coding decisions on escalated cases.
• Maintain strict adherence to payer policies, documentation guidelines, and quality audit requirements.
• Monitor critical team KPIs including accuracy rates, productivity metrics, turnaround time (TAT), denial reduction strategies, and overall quality scores.
• Provide targeted coaching, conduct regular performance reviews, and develop individualized improvement plans for your team members.
• Create and deliver comprehensive training modules, refresher sessions, and workshops focused on the latest E/M updates and best practices.
• Collaborate seamlessly with clinical reviewers, coding quality specialists, revenue integrity teams, and client stakeholders to resolve documentation gaps and systemic issues.
• Lead process improvement initiatives, conduct root-cause analyses, and implement corrective actions to minimize denials and rework.
• Maintain up-to-date internal guides, job aids, and coding resources specific to E&M scenarios.
• Demonstrate strong customer service skills by handling client calls effectively.

Qualifications & Skills

• Proven experience as a Team Leader in medical coding with a specialization in E/M coding (1-10 years).
• Mandatory certification: CPC, CCA, or equivalent credential is required.
• Strong command of medical terminology and anatomical knowledge.
• Familiarity with modern coding software and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
• Exceptional attention to detail combined with robust analytical skills.
• Outstanding communication abilities for interacting effectively with healthcare providers, team members, and clients.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently while meeting strict deadlines.
