EY is seeking a skilled Infra Support Engineer to join our CloudOps team in Chennai, India. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the stability and operational readiness of our on-premise and cloud environments. You will be involved in environment provisioning, configuration, patching, troubleshooting, and daily operational tasks, growing your expertise towards deeper Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.

The Opportunity

As an Infra Support Engineer (Staff 2/3), you will contribute to the seamless operation of our infrastructure. This position is perfect for engineers with a solid foundation in Linux/Unix, automation, and environment support looking to advance their SRE skills. You will collaborate with senior engineers, application teams, and environment management teams to maintain smooth operations and drive continuous improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Environment Management: Assist with the provisioning, configuration, and de-provisioning of environments, ensuring adherence to baseline configurations and established standards. Support database refreshes, reference data updates, and basic environment synchronization.
• Operational Support & Troubleshooting: Conduct daily system checks, monitor performance, and escalate anomalies. Troubleshoot basic to intermediate infrastructure issues and contribute to root cause analysis.
• ITSM & Change Management: Manage incidents and service requests using ITSM tools, ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to management processes. Support patch lifecycle tasks, including testing and validation.
• SRE & Automation: Apply introductory SRE concepts, including observability basics. Contribute to the automation of repeatable tasks using scripting languages like Shell/Bash/Python. Participate in initiatives to reduce manual effort and enhance stability.
• Lifecycle & Migration Support: Assist in identifying end-of-life components, checking dependencies, and participating in migration, replacement, and decommissioning tasks. Maintain asset inventories and conduct post-migration validations.

Skills and Attributes for Success

• Solid understanding of Unix/Linux administration, including logs, services, and processes.
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Shell/Bash/Python.
• Understanding of on-premise infrastructure basics, including file systems, networking, and system performance.
• Exposure to cloud infrastructure concepts on platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Experience with monitoring tools and dashboards.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a curious mindset for troubleshooting.
• Effective communication and documentation abilities.
• Experience working within structured support models (L1/L2).
• Detail-oriented and process-driven approach.
• Willingness to work in a shift-based or shared-service environment.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of experience in IT Infrastructure Support (Cloud or On-Prem).
• Hands-on experience with Linux/Unix administration.
• Working knowledge of at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Basic scripting experience for automation (Shell/Bash/Python).
• Exposure to environment provisioning, patching, and health checks.
• Experience using ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira, Azure DevOps).
• Willingness to work in a 24/7 support model.

Technologies and Tools

• Must Have: Linux/Unix administration (RHEL/Ubuntu), Scripting fundamentals (Shell/Bash/Python), ITSM platforms, Monitoring tools (Nagios, Grafana, Splunk), Basic networking concepts, Basic Cloud certification.
• Good to Have: Cloud Infra certification, Advanced Linux administration, Patching & vulnerability management tools, Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk, Automation tools (Ansible, Git/GitHub), VMware/vSphere, backup tools, Networking certifications, ITIL Foundation, SRE Practitioner courses, Docker.
