Technical Product Manager

Optum is seeking a Technical Product Manager in Bengaluru, Karnataka. This role is pivotal in driving the development and delivery of cutting-edge technology solutions that improve health outcomes. You will work closely with engineering, design, and business teams to define product strategy, prioritize features, and ensure successful product launches and iterations.

Required Qualifications:

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience as a software engineer, systems analyst, or technical analyst.
• Experience supporting B2B, SaaS, platform, or infrastructure products.
• Experience in regulated or high availability environments.
• Technical & Platform Expertise: Strong technical fluency and the ability to collaborate deeply with engineering teams. Experience managing platforms, APIs, or system-based products. Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements. Working knowledge of system architecture, microservices, and integration patterns. Experience with API design, versioning, and lifecycle management. Understanding of scalability, reliability, performance, and security. Comfort discussing technical tradeoffs with engineering teams. Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and infrastructure-backed products.
• Product Ownership & Delivery: Ownership of problem definition, prioritization, and delivery outcomes. Co-ownership of the end-to-end product lifecycle. Contribution to product roadmaps aligned with business and technical strategy. Prioritization of features using impact-based frameworks (e.g., RICE, impact vs. effort). Management of backlogs, releases, milestones, and dependencies. Driving MVP and iterative delivery using Agile methodologies. Ensuring delivery of measurable outcomes.
• Agile & Execution Leadership: Strong execution discipline within modern delivery models. Experience in Agile, Scrum, or Kanban environments. Leadership in backlog refinement, sprint planning, and release coordination. Partnership with engineering for incremental delivery and continuous improvement. Support for dual-track Agile (discovery + delivery). Management of delivery risks, sequencing, and cross-team dependencies.
• Data Driven Decision Making: Utilizing data to inform product decisions and measure success. Definition and tracking of product KPIs and OKRs. Use of product analytics to guide prioritization and iteration. Experience with A/B testing, experimentation, and hypothesis validation. Ability to analyze data using SQL or analytics tools. Leveraging insights from customer behavior, usage funnels, and retention analysis.
• UX & Design Collaboration: Balancing technical rigor with customer-centered design. Close partnership with Product Design on UX/UI decisions. Translation of complex technical capabilities into intuitive user experiences. Experience with user journey mapping, wireframes, and prototypes. Incorporation of findings from usability testing and user research. Familiarity with design systems and accessibility standards.
• Engineering & Developer Collaboration: Acting as a true partner to engineering teams. Daily collaboration with engineering to clarify scope, feasibility, and sequencing. Influencing without authority across engineering, design, and architecture teams. Reviewing technical designs and architectural proposals. Advocating for developer experience (DX) and platform usability. Balancing speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.
• Stakeholder & Executive Communication: Clear communication across technical and non-technical audiences. Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills. Ability to communicate technical concepts to business and executive audiences. Production of clear documentation, executive summaries, and roadmap updates. Alignment of teams around priorities, risks, and trade-offs. Driving alignment and decision-making across organizations.
• Tools & Platforms (Expected Familiarity): Hands-on experience with modern product and analytics tooling, including Jira, Confluence, Aha!, Figma, Looker, SQL, Postman, Azure, Claude, and CoPilot.
