Technical Lead

Role Overview:

• Design, build, and operate backend features on a Node.js + TypeScript platform using Express and Apollo GraphQL within a modular-monolith architecture.
• Evolving a large multi-tenant data layer with Prisma 7 on PostgreSQL (including read replicas), focusing on performance optimization, indexing strategies, and strict data integrity standards.
• Building and hardening critical third-party integrations including payments via Stripe/NMI, communications through SendGrid/Twilio, CRM systems like HubSpot, scheduling tools such as Calendly, and healthcare APIs from Dosespot/Pharmacy providers.
• Architecting event-driven asynchronous workflows using Google Cloud Pub/Sub, scheduled jobs on App Engine Cron, and Cloud Functions to handle payment retries, follow-ups, escalations, and batch processing.
• Implementing secure authentication and RBAC utilizing Firebase Admin, JWTs, OTP flows, and granular permissions within a multi-tenant, compliance-sensitive environment.
• Leveraging GCP services including App Engine, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Document AI, Secret Manager while contributing to CI/CD via GitHub Actions and Prisma migration pipelines.
• Executing full-stack changes as needed to wire up Vue 3 / Apollo frontends for complete feature shipment.
• Developing robust tests with Vitest + Supertest and Firebase emulators to ensure reliability, observability (Winston/Cloud Logging), and safe rollouts.
• Mentoring engineers, leading design discussions, and owning systems end-to-end in production.

Requirements:

• 4-5 years of professional backend or full-stack engineering experience with a proven track record on medium-to-large-scale production systems (Note: Experience field indicates 8-12).
• Strong expertise in Node.js + TypeScript and solid API design skills; GraphQL is strongly preferred, REST background welcome.
• Deep relational database experience including schema design, query optimization, and migrations ideally with Prisma/PostgreSQL or comparable ORMs.
• Experience building and maintaining complex third-party integrations and webhook-driven systems, specifically in payments.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (GCP preferred; AWS/Azure transferable), async messaging/queues, caching via Redis, and CI/CD practices.
• Solid grasp of authentication, authorization (RBAC), and security best practices.
• Frontend competence sufficient to contribute to Vue/React + GraphQL clients when features demand it.
• Demonstrated ability to own systems independently, take responsibility for reliability/on-call quality, and reason about scale/trade-offs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills essential for our remote, async culture.
• Leadership qualities including the ability to mentor others, drive technical design, and raise engineering standards.
• Experience with GCP-native services such as Pub/Sub, BigQuery, Document AI.
• Background in healthcare, fintech, or regulated/compliance-sensitive domains (HIPAA awareness a plus).
