Tech Lead

Speechify is seeking a Tech Lead for our Android Core Product team in Kolkata, India. With the significant growth of our Android app, the most used text-to-speech application in the Play Store, we need a senior engineer to support our expanding user base and drive new product initiatives. What You'll Do:

• Lead the development of major features, collaborating closely with the design team to deliver high-quality products.
• Contribute significantly to shaping the future direction of our Android engineering team.
• Take ownership of the reliability and performance of key features.
• Engage in cross-functional discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Review pull requests and provide mentorship and support to team members.
• Manage and resolve critical issues and unexpected challenges effectively.
• Oversee feature releases and ensure timely delivery of nightly builds for QA.

An Ideal Candidate Should Have:

• A minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience.
• Proficiency with core Android components and architecture.
• Proven experience in building or significantly contributing to at least one Android application.
• Strong product design intuition and a deep understanding of user needs.
• A drive to innovate and push the boundaries of Android UI/UX.
• A solid understanding of testing methodologies and best practices.
• Proactive approach to improving the app and codebase beyond initial specifications.
• Expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android Animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A user-centric approach to problem-solving.
• A proactive attitude towards continuous learning and feedback.

Bonus Points:

• Experience with Android open-source projects.
• Familiarity with iOS, Web, or NodeJS development.
