Tech Lead, Android Core Product - Gurgaon, India

Speechify is seeking a Senior Android Engineer to join our growing team in Gurgaon, India. As our Android app, the leading text-to-speech application in the Play Store, experiences significant user growth, we need a talented individual to support our expanding user base and drive innovation through exciting new projects.

What You’ll Do

• Take ownership of major features, collaborating closely with our design team to deliver high-quality functionality within the app.
• Contribute to shaping the future direction of our Android engineering team.
• Maintain and enhance the reliability of key features.
• Actively participate in cross-functional discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Conduct code reviews and provide support to fellow team members.
• Address critical issues and navigate unexpected challenges effectively.
• Manage feature releases and ensure the QA team receives regular builds.

An Ideal Candidate Should Have

• A minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience.
• Proficiency with core Android components.
• Demonstrated experience in building or significantly contributing to at least one Android application.
• Strong product design intuition and user empathy.
• A drive to innovate and push the boundaries of Android UI/UX.
• A solid understanding of testing methodologies and best practices.
• A proactive approach to improving the app and codebase beyond initial specifications.
• Extensive experience with Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android Animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A user-centric approach to problem-solving.
• A strong drive for continuous improvement and receptiveness to feedback.

Bonus Points

• Experience with building, maintaining, or contributing to open-source Android projects.
• Familiarity with iOS, Web, or NodeJS development.
