Tech Lead

Speechify is seeking a Tech Lead for our Android Core Product team in Delhi, India. As the most used text-to-speech app on the Play Store, our Android app is experiencing significant growth, necessitating a skilled engineer to support our expanding user base and drive new product initiatives.

This pivotal role is ideal for a strategic thinker who thrives in fast-paced environments, is passionate about product development, and has a proven track record of creating exceptional user experiences. Responsibilities:

• Lead the development of major features, collaborating closely with the design team and taking end-to-end ownership of high-quality feature delivery.
• Contribute to shaping the future direction of our Android engineering team.
• Maintain and enhance the reliability of key product features.
• Engage in cross-functional discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Conduct code reviews and provide mentorship and support to fellow team members.
• Address and resolve critical issues and unexpected challenges.
• Manage feature releases and ensure the timely provision of builds for the QA team.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of software engineering experience.
• Proficiency with core Android components.
• Demonstrated experience in building or significantly contributing to at least one Android application.
• Strong product design intuition and user empathy.
• A passion for pushing the boundaries of Android UI/UX.
• A solid understanding of testing methodologies and practical experience in writing tests.
• Proactive approach to improving the app and codebase beyond initial specifications.
• Extensive experience with Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android Animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A user-oriented problem-solving mindset.
• A proactive and feedback-driven approach to continuous improvement.

Bonus Points:

• Experience with Android open-source projects.
• Familiarity with iOS, Web, or NodeJS development.
