Team Lead, Backend (C#) at Payoneer - Gurgaon
As a Team Lead for Backend Development with a focus on C#, you will play a pivotal role in steering your team towards achieving key objectives. This involves contributing significantly to the design, architecture, development, quality assurance, and production deployment of your team's systems. You will be responsible for crafting robust, scalable, and maintainable backend solutions for intricate scenarios, ensuring the delivery of high-quality outputs that may be leveraged by other engineering teams.
Collaboration is key in this role. You will work closely with your team members and cross-functional partners, including Product Managers, UX/UI Designers, DevOps Engineers, and other R&D teams, often acting as the primary representative for your team in discussions.
A critical aspect of your role will be to uphold and enhance the team's engineering best practices. You will be expected to propose and implement improvements in technology, design patterns, and development processes. Proactive identification of areas for enhancement within the team's systems, processes, and scalability is also a core responsibility.
You will lead by example, championing code quality through substantial contributions to code reviews and serving as a central point of contact for engineering excellence inquiries. Furthermore, you will actively participate in monitoring production systems, investigating potential issues, and spearheading efforts to resolve critical production challenges with a steadfast customer-centric approach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead team efforts to achieve goals, contributing to system design, architecture, development, quality, and deployment.
- Design and implement scalable, robust, and maintainable backend solutions for complex use cases.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams (Product, Design/UX, DevOps, R&D) and represent your team.
- Maintain and improve team engineering practices, suggesting and implementing new technologies, patterns, or processes.
- Proactively identify and address areas for improvement in systems, processes, and scalability.
- Champion code quality, conduct thorough code reviews, and be a go-to resource for engineering excellence.
- Monitor production systems, investigate issues, and lead resolutions with a customer focus.
What We're Looking For:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a server-side developer, proficient in C#, .NET, REST APIs, webhooks, and asynchronous communication using message queues/streams (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka).
- At least 3 years of experience working with SQL databases (MSSQL, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.).
- A minimum of 2 years of experience with observability systems such as Dynatrace or Grafana.
- A minimum of 3 years of managerial experience, specifically leading the development of customer-facing products is mandatory.
- Proven experience with messaging queues or streams like RabbitMQ, SQS, or Kafka.
- A strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and design patterns.
- Experience with Microservices architecture.
- Demonstrated experience in engineering best practices, including unit testing, code reviews, test coverage, and Agile methodologies.

- A Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) or Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science or an equivalent degree.

- Practical knowledge of non-relational databases like MongoDB.
- Experience in mentoring new hires and interns, fostering a culture of collaboration and best practices.
