Senior Data Protection and Privacy Specialist - BigID & Immuta (Hyderabad, India)

Join EY's Cyber Security practice in Hyderabad as a Senior Data Protection and Privacy Specialist. You will be instrumental in managing and maintaining enterprise Data Protection & Privacy (DPP) tools and solutions. Your role will involve the implementation, administration, and daily monitoring of DPP tools, responding to alerts, and collaborating with IT Operations, Network Operations, Infrastructure, Legal, and Risk Management teams.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Data Privacy & Governance Specialist with deep expertise in BigID and Immuta platforms. This role is crucial for implementing and managing data privacy and governance solutions, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations, and facilitating secure data sharing across the organization.

Your Key Responsibilities:

• Comprehensive Data Management: Implement and manage a unified data privacy and governance framework using BigID for data discovery and classification, and Immuta for policy management and access control. Ensure the framework supports compliance with global data protection regulations and enables secure data sharing. Utilize BigID for deep data scans to identify and classify sensitive data across various sources.
• Policy Management and Enforcement: Develop robust data access and privacy policies within Immuta, aligning with organizational commitments and regulatory compliance. Leverage Immuta's policy-as-code capabilities for automated enforcement of complex data governance rules.
• Access Control and Privacy Enforcement: Configure Immuta to enforce dynamic data access controls, ensuring user access complies with privacy policies. Conduct data privacy impact assessments using BigID's risk analysis tools. Monitor and enforce adherence to privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA) and internal policies.
• Data Governance and Compliance Audits: Develop a strategic approach to data governance that balances data utility and privacy using BigID and Immuta. Collaborate with legal, compliance, and business units to align the framework with regulatory requirements and business objectives. Conduct regular audits of data handling practices using BigID and leverage Immuta's reporting for policy adherence and transparency.
• Regulatory Compliance and Reporting: Use BigID to generate reports demonstrating compliance with data protection laws (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA). Utilize Immuta's reporting features for transparency into data access patterns and policy enforcement. Use data-driven metrics to inform decision-making and showcase the value of data governance initiatives.
• Data Quality Assurance: Collaborate with IT and data teams to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and reliability. Use BigID to identify and remediate data quality issues and Immuta to maintain data integrity through controlled access.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Engage with IT, legal, HR, and business units to embed data privacy and governance principles. Facilitate communication between data owners, users, and IT staff. Act as a subject matter expert on data privacy and governance matters.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5-8 years of experience supporting Data Privacy & Governance Specialist roles with expertise in BigID and Immuta platforms.
• 4-6 years of experience in at least two of the following: Information Security concepts related to Data Privacy, Data Governance, and Data Protection; or Data Discovery/Classification Technology or Privacy.
• Strong understanding of data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA) and global privacy frameworks.
• Extensive experience with BigID and Immuta (implementation, configuration, administration).
• Proficiency in data discovery, classification, and metadata management.
• Familiarity with data security and access control concepts.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently.
• Demonstrated integrity.
• Knowledge of core Information Security concepts (Data Privacy, Data Governance, Risk & Compliance).
• Ability to adapt to a changing environment.
• Experience supporting data protection and privacy incidents.
• Clear and concise communication abilities.

Ideally, you’ll also have:

• Professional certifications (e.g., BigID Professional/Expert, CISSP, CIPP/E) or actively pursuing them.
• Willingness to work weekends and 20-30% travel as required.
