Boeing, a premier aerospace innovator located in El Segundo, California, is actively recruiting an accomplished Space Survivability/Radiation Effects Engineer for a contract position. This role is integral to supporting natural and man-made radiation environment tasks throughout all phases of satellite programs. The ideal candidate will serve as a subject matter expert, collaborating across diverse technical disciplines to proactively address and mitigate radiation-related concerns throughout the satellite design lifecycle. Responsibilities include providing in-depth expertise on nuclear radiation hardness for a substantial portfolio of space programs, liaising with program office representatives and system engineers from various disciplines to ensure radiation concerns are fully integrated, and verifying that unit and system-level designs appropriately account for radiation effects such as total dose, displacement damage, ELDRS, single event effects, internal charging, IEMP, SGEMP, and TREE. The role also involves performing and documenting comprehensive unit and vehicle-level analyses, planning and executing critical piecepart, unit, and vehicle-level radiation testing to support design validation and compliance verification, and actively interfacing with personnel at national radiation test facilities to secure necessary testing resources.
