Systems Engineer | $26/hr Remote
Full Job Description
Embark on a challenging role as an Engineering Design Specialist focused on developing advanced AI models. This hourly contract position offers flexibility, allowing for 20-40 hours per week of remote work. You will be instrumental in creating sophisticated, simulation-based engineering problems designed to train cutting-edge artificial intelligence. Your responsibilities will include crafting realistic design challenges that incorporate trade-offs, component sizing, and optimization techniques. You'll validate engineering solutions using rigorous physics-based simulations and deep domain knowledge. The role requires designing multi-step problem sets, complete with solutions, edge cases, and precise evaluation criteria. A key aspect of this position is analyzing outputs for correctness, feasibility, and physical realism, ensuring accuracy in units, boundary conditions, convergence, and overall system behavior. Clear and systematic documentation of problems, solutions, and evaluation logic is essential. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to significantly enhance AI model performance. Ideal candidates possess a Master's or PhD in a relevant engineering or applied science field, coupled with strong hands-on engineering design experience and end-to-end problem-solving capabilities. Expertise in at least one engineering domain (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Aerospace, Robotics, etc.) and proficiency in at least one open-source simulation tool relevant to your domain are required. Strong Python scripting skills for simulation and analysis are a must. You should be adept at designing complex, simulation-based problems that involve trade-offs and optimization, demonstrating high attention to detail regarding units, boundary conditions, and physical accuracy. Excellent analytical thinking, the ability to evaluate edge cases and design correctness, and strong written communication skills are crucial for success in this remote role. The application process involves applying via Easy Apply, completing an interest check form, and potentially an assessment and interview round.
