Full Job Description
Agensys Corporation seeks a highly skilled Systems Administrator with a dedicated focus on enterprise storage solutions in Germantown, MD. This role is critical for maintaining robust, secure, and high-performing storage environments, with a strong emphasis on NetApp ONTAP and Azure cloud storage. The successful candidate will also provide essential system administration support for both Windows and Linux servers.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain NetApp ONTAP storage systems, including volumes, aggregates, snapshots, and replication strategies.
- Monitor storage performance, capacity, and overall health to ensure optimal availability and reliability.
- Configure and support CIFS/NFS shares, quotas, and access controls.
- Execute firmware upgrades, patching, and lifecycle maintenance for NetApp hardware.
- Diagnose and resolve storage-related issues across servers, applications, and network infrastructure.
- Manage Azure storage accounts, encompassing Blob, File, and Disk storage services.
- Implement and maintain backup, replication, and disaster recovery solutions utilizing Azure tools.
- Oversee cloud storage performance, costs, and utilization, providing recommendations for optimization.
- Ensure secure storage configurations, adhering to organizational policies and cloud best practices.
- Provide Tier II/III support for Windows and/or Linux servers, including patching, updates, and troubleshooting.
- Assist with Active Directory, Group Policy, and identity management tasks.
- Support virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper-V) and their integration with storage infrastructure.
- Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and long-term remediation efforts.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, storage layouts, and operational procedures.
- Monitor storage and system health using established tools and dashboards.
- Track and report on capacity, performance trends, and storage consumption metrics.
- Perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend hardware lifecycle.
- Collaborate with networking, security, and cloud teams to ensure end-to-end service reliability.
- Ensure storage environments meet organizational security standards and compliance requirements.
- Implement and maintain encryption, access controls, and secure data handling practices.
- Support audits, inventory reviews, and configuration management activities.
Requirements
- Extensive hands-on experience with NetApp ONTAP administration.
- Proven experience managing Azure storage services (Blob, File, Disk, ANF, or File Sync).
- Solid understanding of storage protocols such as NFS, SMB/CIFS, and iSCSI.
- Working knowledge of Windows Server and/or Linux system administration.
- Familiarity with virtualization platforms (VMware or Hyper-V).
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex issues across storage, OS, network, and application layers.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in system administration.
- Minimum 1 year of experience with Azure.
- Minimum 1 year of experience with NetApp ONTAP.
- Must reside in or be willing to relocate to Germantown, MD 20876 prior to employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- NetApp certifications (NCDA, NCIE).
- Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305, or similar).
- Experience with backup and DR platforms (e.g., Veeam, Commvault, Azure Backup).
- Scripting experience (PowerShell, Python) for automation.
- Understanding of cloud governance, cost management, and hybrid storage architectures.
- Bachelor's degree.
