System Engineer

Job Description Summary

Systems Engineering is a cross-functional technical discipline focusing on an approach, mindset, and process. It encompasses all activities that consider both business and technical requirements of customers, aiming to deliver a quality product that meets user needs. This discipline implements a robust process for designing, building, and optimizing systems. This includes identifying and quantifying system requirements, creating alternative system design concepts, conducting design trade-off studies, selecting and implementing the best designs, and verifying proper integration and execution. The process spans from concept through production to operation.

Responsibilities include accountability for the quality of one's own work. Work is performed under direct operational supervision, following prescribed work instructions and system checks within a clearly defined operational framework. Generally, there is a step-by-step sequence of standard operational tasks that must be followed to achieve an end result.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Perform component and product integration, managing all activities involving multiple components and products to ensure maximum performance and operability. This includes managing product and system requirements, specifications, and data flow. Conduct validation and verification activities for the entire product/system, including system-level testing. Be responsible for defining product requirements for module/component/subcontractor and partner teams. Manage the interface between components and execution organizations. Drive CTQ/Risk trades within component design teams. Manage overall product configuration and the configuration control system.
• Develop conceptual knowledge of the subject discipline. May include support roles with specialized expertise or technical knowledge in a broad area.
• Apply general business knowledge developed through education or past experience. Understand how the team's work contributes to the broader area.
• Solve problems using established procedures. Consult with supervisor or senior team members on issues outside defined instructions/parameters.
• Collaborate with others to solve problems. For customer-facing roles, develop strong customer relationships and serve as the interface between customers and GE Vernova. Communicate technical information, ask questions, and verify understanding.

Basic Qualifications

This role requires foundational experience. The level of knowledge is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma with equivalent experience).
