System Engineer - Chennai, India

GE Vernova is seeking a skilled System Engineer to join their team in Chennai, India. This role involves a cross-functional engineering discipline focused on delivering quality products that meet customer needs through robust design, creation, and optimization processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support Business Verticals in developing and reviewing system solutions for the Out-of-the-Box (OTR) process, ensuring technical feasibility and risk management.
• Model electrical components such as Power Electronic Drives, Transformers, and Motors using MATLAB.
• Perform system design, analysis, and report preparation using MATLAB simulations for VFD, SFC, Harmonic Filters, HVDC, and Power Quality projects.
• Apply knowledge of Power Electronic Components and Drives for system design.
• Analyze closed-loop systems using Control System knowledge.
• Configure Protection Relay Coordination and settings using Electrical Software.
• Conduct basic and detailed engineering for Power Quality equipment, including transformers, switchgear, and cabling.
• Analyze customer contracts and prepare specifications for vendors and internal stakeholders.
• Generate technical documentation and review vendor documentation according to contractual requirements.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks.
• Review developed solutions and propose improvements to processes, systems, or equipment.
• Foster relationships with other GE business entities for synergy benefits.
• Collaborate with Platform Engineering, Technology and Value Engineering, and Supply Chain to support projects and the business.
• Liaise with other GE businesses, platform verticals, supply chain, sub-contractors, and suppliers.
• Promote a lean mindset to deliver optimized technical solutions.
• Ensure strict compliance with all company and customer EHS policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from a reputable College/University.
• Proficiency in system design using MATLAB, PLECS, and PSCAD.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in Project Engineering / Electrical System Engineering.
• Experience in electrical system engineering within Industry, Marine, O&G, or Power sectors, focusing on the engineering design of systems involving Transformers, Switchgears, Cables, E-houses, Power Quality, MV Motors, and Hazardous Area Equipment Classification. Requires an analytical and innovative problem-solving approach.
• Ability to adapt and multitask with project/application engineers.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications.
• Experience in power quality simulation / power system design using MATLAB/PSCAD.
