About the Role
As an Application Modernization Engineer (Strategic Cloud Engineer), you will collaborate with Google's most strategic cloud customers to transform existing enterprise applications into modern, cloud-native solutions. Your work will focus on reducing time-to-launch, increasing release frequency, and minimizing failure rates through application redesign, scaling, reliability improvements, and seamless migration to the Google Cloud Platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute comprehensive strategies for enterprise application transformation and modernization.
- Advise customers as a trusted technical advisor on complex software development challenges.
- Create best-practice documentation, tutorials, blog articles, and sample code to support customer adoption of Google Cloud products.
- Lead ongoing operations including feature rollouts, monitoring, troubleshooting, and architecture guidance.
- Collaborate with product management and engineering teams to drive excellence in cloud solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of coding experience in general-purpose languages (Python, Java, Go, C/C++).
- Demonstrated experience designing cloud enterprise solutions and supporting projects to completion.
- Fluent English communication skills for efficient collaboration with local customers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience refactoring monolithic applications into microservices, APIs, or serverless models.
- A track record of architecting production-grade cloud solutions in virtualized environments (e.g., Google Cloud Platform).
- Leadership experience in application modernization and architecture projects.
- Strong proficiency with data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns.
- Familiarity with unit testing and automated testing frameworks.
Location & Travel
This role offers flexibility to choose a working location from: Bengaluru (Karnataka), Mumbai (Maharashtra), or Gurugram (Haryana). You may be required to travel up to 30% for in-region meetings, technical reviews, and onsite delivery activities.
