Storage Engineer

Position Summary

As a Storage Engineer at QualityKiosk Technologies, you will be instrumental in the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of our organization's critical storage infrastructure. This role focuses on the comprehensive management of data storage systems, ensuring optimal performance, high availability of data, and the implementation of resilient data backup and recovery solutions. You will collaborate with various teams to support data-intensive applications and services, while strictly adhering to security protocols and compliance mandates.

Core Duties

1. Design and architect robust storage solutions that align with organizational performance, scalability, and availability demands.
2. Install, configure, and deploy various storage systems, including SAN, NAS, and object storage platforms.
3. Plan and execute data migration projects, ensuring data integrity and minimal service disruption.
4. Continuously monitor storage performance and implement optimizations to meet evolving performance requirements.
5. Develop and implement comprehensive data backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data integrity and ensure business continuity.
6. Implement and enforce storage security measures, including access controls, encryption, and data retention policies.
7. Analyze storage utilization patterns and forecast future needs to support effective capacity planning.
8. Diagnose and resolve complex storage-related issues, addressing hardware failures, connectivity problems, and performance bottlenecks.
9. Establish and maintain storage monitoring systems to proactively identify and mitigate potential issues.
10. Create and maintain detailed documentation for storage configurations, operational procedures, and policies.
11. Collaborate effectively with IT, network, and application teams to ensure seamless integration and support of storage solutions.
12. Engage with storage hardware and software vendors for procurement, technical support, and staying abreast of emerging technologies.

Qualifications and Experience

• Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field is preferred. An Associate degree or Diploma in Computer Networking, Information Technology, or a related discipline will also be considered.
• Experience: 2 to 5 years of direct experience as a Storage Engineer or in a similar role. Experience in configuring and managing network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers. Proficiency with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools. Understanding of network security principles. Familiarity with virtualization and cloud networking concepts (e.g., VMware NSX, AWS VPC, Azure Networking) is a plus. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage tasks effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
