Starburst Admin/SRE

Matlen Silver is seeking a skilled Starburst Administrator/Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to oversee the complete administration and support of the Starburst shared platform. This role involves the installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of the platform, along with critical troubleshooting and root cause analysis for any platform-related issues. The ideal candidate will also coordinate and execute activities for platform maintenance, disaster recovery planning, and software release management, serving as an L3+ escalation point for platform issue resolution. Responsibilities include configuring and tuning production and lower-level environments, performing capacity and stability monitoring, assisting with platform metrics collection and reporting, and contributing to the definition, review, documentation, and communication of Starburst best practices and standards. A strong understanding of the Starburst software installation, configuration, security model, and connectivity is essential, alongside working knowledge of OpenShift/Kubernetes and Trino. Proven troubleshooting skills, the ability to analyze and communicate root causes and resolutions, and excellent verbal and written communication are required. Experience with SQL query tuning is also beneficial.
