Staff Software Engineer

The Role

Outschool seeks a Staff Software Engineer for an agentic-first full-stack platform helping millions access public-funded educational resources. You will drive high-impact engineering initiatives in personalized discovery and payments while establishing AI-native development best practices.

Core Responsibilities

• Drive complex, high-impact engineering across discovery, payments, reimbursement workflows, supply eligibility, and related problem spaces.
• Partner with Product, Design, Data, and Engineering leadership to align on roadmap priorities, technical tradeoffs, risks, and execution strategy.
• Demonstrate an AI-native development mindset leveraging fully agentic workflows while contributing principles for AI development.
• Mentor engineers, influence technical direction, and translate complex technical concepts into clarity for cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience in full-stack TypeScript, React, Node.js, GraphQL, and PostgreSQL.
• Proven track record leading teams into AI-native development.
• Demonstrated senior technical leadership with strategic architectural decision-making.
