Staff Software Engineer

GitHub Actions powers automation for millions of developers globally. Our team owns the macOS platform within GitHub Actions, managing cloud infrastructure, networking, security, and distributed systems to ensure a reliable experience. We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to set technical direction for our macOS platform.

• Design, develop, test, and ship high-quality solutions that scale across GitHub services.
• Provide technical leadership through mentoring, pairing, code reviews, and fostering growth within the team.
• Maintain system health, participate in on-call rotations for incident response, and ensure operational excellence.
• Create architecture proposals, write experiments, design APIs, and implement automated CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to drive technical solutions considering security, cost, and scalability.
• Define testing plans, success metrics, and integrate customer feedback for continuous improvement.
