Staff Software Engineer

Join the innovative Build Agent team within ServiceNow's App Engine organization. Our mission is to empower customers to rapidly create custom applications using AI agents, large language models (LLMs), and advanced machine learning. We are a dynamic team pushing the boundaries of AI on the ServiceNow platform to enable business customers to build transformative applications for their daily operations.

In this role, you will:

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of high-quality, scalable, and performant AI Agentic applications on the ServiceNow platform.
• Drive architectural decisions for fast, scalable, and robust software, setting the technical direction for key initiatives.
• Collaborate with product managers, researchers, and engineers to translate complex AI concepts into practical, customer-facing solutions.
• Mentor and grow other engineers, fostering technical excellence and continuous improvement.
• Contribute hands-on to the full development lifecycle, from ideation and prototyping to implementation, testing, and operational support.
• Stay current with AI, machine learning, and LLM developments, integrating new technologies to enhance platform capabilities.
• Ensure adoption of best practices for software development, code quality, and system reliability.

We are looking for candidates with:

• Experience integrating AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving.
• Experience with AI productivity tools like Cursor or Windsurf is a plus.
• 8+ years of software development experience, with a strong focus on AI, machine learning, and LLMs.
• Proven track record of designing and delivering scalable, high-performance enterprise software solutions.
• Deep understanding of AI agentic architectures and their application in intelligent systems.
• Proficiency in Java and JavaScript development.
• Experience with Python is a strong plus for machine learning, data science, or scripting.
• Solid knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns, especially for complex AI/ML systems.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and influence technical direction.
• Strong mentorship skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with cloud platforms and distributed systems is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with the ServiceNow platform and its development ecosystem is a plus.
