Staff Software Engineer

About the Role

As a Staff Software Engineer - Full Stack at Okta's Identity Security Pillar, you will play a pivotal role in scaling foundational platforms and web applications. You will partner with distributed teams to deliver robust security solutions across cloud ecosystems.

• Design and build high-quality backend services using Node.js and TypeScript, collaborating closely with frontend developers on React-based integrations.
• Raise engineering standards by improving methodologies, producing best-in-class code, documentation, testing, and monitoring for distributed systems.
• Collaborate to translate product requirements into robust technical solutions within our Identity Security Posture Management (ISPM), Threat Protection (ITP), and Detection & Response domains.
• Mentor colleagues and promote knowledge sharing across global engineering teams in India and worldwide.

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience building complex, enterprise-grade distributed systems.
• 6+ years designing backend services with Node.js and modern TypeScript (NestJS is a plus).
• Familiarity with React for frontend collaboration.
• Deep knowledge of RESTful API design, microservices architecture, asynchronous event-driven patterns, and data persistence.
• Experience with relational databases and NoSQL/caching stores like AWS.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience).

• Frameworks such as NestJS, modern cloud platforms (AWS), container orchestration.
• Identity and security domains including IAM, OAuth, OIDC, SAML, posture management, threat detection.
