About The Role

We are seeking a Staff Database Reliability Engineer to lead the modernization of our enterprise data tier. You will champion a shift from traditional DBA administration to code-first, automated Reliability Engineering across hybrid cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Database as Code & CI/CD: Establish repository-driven pipelines for Terraform-based infrastructure and zero-downtime migrations using Flyway/Liquibase/DACPAC to eliminate manual DDL execution.
• Durability & Recovery: Automate backup verification, point-in-time recovery (PITR), and disaster recovery drills to continuously validate RPO/RTO targets across hybrid environments.
• Observability Engineering: Define database-specific SLIs/SLOs focusing on query latency, replication lag, lock contention, and connection pool health beyond raw host metrics.
• Data Platforming: Build self-service provisioning workflows and intelligent traffic-routing layers (PgBouncer, ProxySQL) to empower application teams for safe scaling without manual intervention.
• Cloud Modernization: Lead the re-architecting and migration of legacy workloads into Google Cloud Platform (GCP), designing minimal-downtime cutover strategies for SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and MySQL.
• Performance Engineering: Optimize high-throughput OLTP workloads through indexing strategies, execution plan analysis, TempDB tuning, and storage capacity modeling.
