Role Overview
Join the Data Platform team at Okta to design, build, and deploy foundational data services that power analytics and machine learning. You will own high-performance, scalable platform components using modern distributed technologies like Kinesis, Flink, Snowflake, and Kubernetes.
About the Team
The Data Platform team enables streaming analytics, interactive reporting, telemetry, and scales Okta's data & ML infrastructure. The elite team operates with speed, creativity, and flexibility, rewarding engineers with ownership, stimulating projects, new technologies, and significant equity as we change the cloud computing landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, high-performance platform components for data-intensive workloads.
- Collaborate with architects and cross-functional partners on project design and implementation.
- Lead code reviews, performance tuning, and technical analysis.
- Mentor engineers to help scale the organization effectively.
- Debug production issues across multiple levels of the stack.
Required Skills
- 8+ years in object-oriented development (Java preferred).
- Hands-on experience with cloud-based distributed computing (Kafka, Spark, Hadoop, Kubernetes, etc.).
- Expertise in multithreading, garbage collection, and memory management.
- Solid grasp of software engineering principles and reliability engineering practices.
Nice to Have
- Experience with identity/security infrastructure.
- Petabyte-scale data integration experience (batch & online).
- AWS Stack/Kubernetes service development background.
