Staff Site Reliability Engineer

Position Overview

Diligent is seeking a Staff Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with a robust software engineering foundation. This role will spearhead initiatives to guarantee the reliability, scalability, and performance of our applications and infrastructure. The ideal candidate is passionate about automation, observability, and fostering continuous improvement within production environments. We are looking for a seasoned SRE with expertise in automation, performance optimization, and operational excellence, who excels at building resilient systems in dynamic, complex settings. Strong communication skills are essential for collaborating with diverse engineering teams to implement more efficient and dependable procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Support multiple Diligent datacenters and cloud deployments (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Lead and enhance daily operational processes across production environments.
• Participate in incident management and response, conducting root cause analyses and leading retrospective reviews for all Diligent applications.
• Drive best practices in observability, cost optimization, and security across multiple cloud environments.
• Develop self-service tools and automation pipelines to boost developer productivity and system reliability.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices for consistent environment management.
• Collaborate with engineering and SRE teams to improve system performance, maintainability, and scalability.
• Mentor team members and advocate for SRE best practices across engineering teams.

Required Experience/Skills

• 7+ years of professional experience in Software Engineering, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using AWS CDK, CDKTF (Terraform CDK), or Terraform.
• Proficiency in designing, implementing, and testing scalable software architectures.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, CodePipeline, or similar).
• Strong automation and scripting abilities for operational workflows and cloud infrastructure.
• Excellent communication of technical and AI-related concepts to diverse stakeholders; proven ability to lead projects, influence engineering culture, and mentor peers in AI-augmented workflows.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills.

Preferred Experience/Skills

• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as OpenSearch (Elastic), SignalFX, or Azure/AWS-native services.
• Experience leveraging AI-powered development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, CLI assistants, code generation tools) to enhance productivity and streamline workflows.
• Experience setting up monitoring, alerting, and logging systems using AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and third-party tools for system health, security, and performance.
• Up-to-date knowledge of modern programming/scripting languages such as .Net, Typescript, Python, PowerShell, Golang.
• Hands-on experience with CDK Pipelines, Step Functions, and Azure/AWS-native DevOps tooling.
• Proficient working with a wide range of technologies, frameworks, and platforms including Azure Cloud, AWS Cloud, Windows, Linux, Portainer, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with SQL databases and optimizations.
