Staff Engineer

Join Freshworks as a Staff Frontend Engineer in Hyderabad, Telangana, and play a pivotal role in architecting the core of exceptional user experiences. You will lead large-scale initiatives, focusing on performance from first principles, creating scalable component libraries, and translating design visions into engineering realities at speed and scale.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect and evolve our complex frontend architecture, championing initiatives like micro-frontends for rapid and safe code deployment across multiple engineering teams.
• Elevate the user experience by obsessing over browser rendering, DOM optimization, and pixel-perfect interactions to deliver fast, accessible, and engaging UIs.
• Enhance engineering velocity by building reusable UI component libraries and establishing robust testing strategies (Unit, E2E, Visual) to accelerate feature time-to-market.
• Set the gold standard for frontend engineering through thoughtful RFCs, meticulous PR reviews, and a relentless focus on quality and empathy, mentoring fellow engineers.
• Design, build, and scale component libraries and design systems across products.
• Own frontend architecture and drive standardization across teams.
• Lead complex UI efforts focusing on performance, accessibility, and responsive design.
• Translate design specifications into extensible, high-performance components.
• Define and enforce best practices for code structure, testing, and maintainability.
• Optimize large frontend codebases for performance and readability.
• Mentor frontend engineers across teams and conduct deep technical reviews.
• Collaborate with product managers and designers to influence experience strategy.

Required Skills:

• Advanced JavaScript/TypeScript, modern JS frameworks (React preferred), HTML5, CSS3, and modern styling.
• Expertise in Data Structures & Frontend Algorithms.
• Strong understanding of Frontend System Design, Micro-frontends, and Browser Rendering & DOM Optimization.
• Experience with Reusable Component Libraries/Design Systems, Web Accessibility (a11y), and Cross-Browser Compatibility.
• Proficiency in Frontend Testing Ecosystems (Unit, E2E, Visual Regression), Advanced Debugging & Profiling Tools.
• Experience writing Technical RFCs & Architecture Documentation, and CI/CD for Frontend Applications.
• Excellent Soft Skills including Tech-Initiative Leadership, Change Management, UI/UX Design Sensibility & Empathy, Mentorship & Peer Code Reviews, and Cross-functional Collaboration.

Qualifications:

• 10 to 15 years of experience as a web developer, UI developer, JavaScript expert, or frontend engineer.
• Deep expertise in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and modern JS frameworks (React preferred).
• Proven experience in frontend architecture, micro-frontends, and reusable libraries.
• Track record of building highly responsive, accessible, and performant UIs.
• Deep understanding of browser rendering, DOM optimization, and debugging tools.
• Familiarity with frontend app testing strategies.
• Strong foundation in data structures and frontend algorithms.
• Experience driving long-term tech initiatives and architectural upgrades.
• A degree in Computer Science or a related technical field is preferred.
• A strong sense of design, UX, and interaction details is essential.
• Passion for building engineering cultures focused on quality, speed, and empathy.
• Ability to think like a system designer and execute like a craftsman.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for impactful RFCs and PR reviews.
