Staff Engineer

Join slice as a Staff Engineer on our Data Platform team in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. You will provide critical technical leadership, building and scaling the data infrastructure that powers real-time streaming, ML enablement, and data accessibility across the company. Collaborating closely with ML, data science, product, platform, and analytics teams, you will develop robust systems for high-quality, reliable data at scale. This hands-on role involves leading AI-driven platform initiatives, creating centralized capabilities for Legal, CX, and Product teams, and mentoring engineers to build impactful systems. Your responsibilities will include technical leadership across all data aspects (batch/real-time processing, ML platform, AI tooling, reporting, data products), driving the technical roadmap for infrastructure modernization, performance, and cost efficiency. You will also develop internal data products like self-serve access and feature stores, build scalable ML infrastructure with MLOps best practices, and lead AI platform development for LLM hosting and secure AI applications. Implementing enterprise AI governance, collaborating on long-term data architecture, and establishing data governance, quality, and security best practices are key. You will ensure regulatory compliance (GDPR, PCI-DSS, SOX) through automated monitoring and secure pipelines, and implement real-time data processing for fraud detection and risk management. The ideal candidate possesses 8+ years of engineering experience, a strong background in data platforms, Kubernetes, AWS, and distributed systems, with expertise in technologies like Apache Spark, Flink, Airflow, Kafka, and modern stacks such as dbt, Databricks, Snowflake, and Terraform. Proven experience in building AI/ML platforms, LLM hosting, model serving, and secure AI application development is essential, along with a track record of improving performance, cost, and observability in large-scale data systems. Experience with AI/ML frameworks, LLM hosting platforms, secure AI application patterns, and a comfort level in fast-paced, product-led environments are required. Experience with data security, compliance, LLM infrastructure, and fintech regulations are a plus.
