Coupang is seeking a Staff Software Engineer specializing in Backend to join our team in Hyderabad. In this role, you will work on developing distributed systems, data processing pipelines, and next-generation platforms and products. You will contribute to implementing industry best practices in software development and operations, enhancing engineering skills to deliver pioneering e-commerce experiences in new global markets. Collaborating with engineers across multiple geographic locations, you will tackle large-scale, high-reliability challenges that impact millions of users daily.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive the architecture and design of high-quality data pipelines and systems.
• Develop roadmaps and vision for the scalable and robust growth of our online serving platform.
• Collaborate with other engineering teams to ensure the platform is open and extensible, fostering innovation.
• Align with stakeholders and lead engineers on mission-critical projects.
• Decompose complex problems into simple, effective solutions.
• Demonstrate expert knowledge in the performance, scalability, and availability of data pipelines.
• Leverage internal and industry best practices in design.
• Conduct deep dives and manage critical system issues.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in software design and development, with proficiency in Java and Python.
• Hands-on experience designing, building, and deploying scalable, high-availability data pipelines.
• Experience in large system architecture design and development.
• Experience with cloud computing platforms, specifically AWS.
• Experience developing container-based testing environments.
• Experience with Java, IntelliJ, and the Spring framework.

Our Hybrid Work Model: Coupang supports a hybrid work model designed to foster collaboration and enhance the employee experience. Employees are expected to work from the office at least 3 days per week, with the flexibility to work from home for 2 days, depending on role requirements. Some roles may require more in-office presence due to the nature of the work.
