The Role
We're looking for a Staff Backend Engineer with extensive experience in distributed systems to own systems end-to-end—from schema design to operational excellence. You will operate in a fast-paced environment supporting enormous growth in traffic, data, and global usage.
Responsibilities
- Distributed Systems: Architect high-scale services powering Docker Hub's registry platform across multi-region replication and caching strategies.
- Data Infrastructure: Design storage layers for relational, NoSQL, and object storage to support large-volume workloads.
- Operations & Scale: Improve reliability of the world's largest container image repository through enhanced observability and deployment tooling like Argo CD.
- Leadership: Mentor engineers, lead architecture reviews, and partner with Product, Design, and SRE teams.
Requirements
- 8+ years backend engineering experience in distributed systems.
- Strong production experience with Golang and Kubernetes at scale.
- Expertise in high-scale storage (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB) and event-driven systems like Kafka.
Compensation
$170,350 – $275,550 USD + equity for the United States location.
