Staff Backend Engineer

About The Role

We are looking for an experienced Staff Software Engineer (Digital Footprint) to join our team. You will have a direct impact on engineering practices throughout our backend stack, raising the bar for engineers around you.

Core Responsibilities:

• Architect and Develop: Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and extremely reliable code across backend components using TypeScript, Node.js, MongoDB, and messaging queues (AWS SQS).
• Collaborate: Work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to define technical specifications and deliver high-quality solutions.
• Optimize: Identify bottlenecks, mitigate bugs, and continuously improve application performance, scalability, and security.
• Mentor: Provide technical guidance to junior developers and foster a culture of learning.
• Innovate: Stay up-to-date with industry trends (including AI) and proactively suggest improvements.
• Test and Deploy: Implement automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and participate in on-call rotations.

Skills & Experience

We expect a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with 6+ years of backend software development. Deep knowledge of TypeScript, Node.js, MongoDB, and AWS SQS is required. Familiarity with Python (Django/FastAPI), Airflow, PostgreSQL, and NestJS is a plus.

Location & Logistics

This role reports to the Manager of Digital Footprint Team. The position requires hybrid work in Los Angeles / San Francisco / New York on Tuesdays through Thursdays. Remote US/Canada candidates may be considered for extraordinary profiles.
