Staff Backend Engineer

We seek an experienced Staff/Principal Backend Engineer to ensure scalability, reliability, and architecture across workflows, conversations, and ticketing systems. This senior technical role requires hands-on expertise in distributed systems, production infrastructure, failure handling, and cross-service design.

• Own platform scalability and reliability for workflows, tickets, and supporting services.
• Proactively address bottlenecks, failures, capacity risks, and reliability gaps.
• Drive architecture decisions across multiple engineering teams and services.
• Design fault-tolerant distributed systems that scale reliably.
• Troubleshoot large-scale production incidents and outages personally.
• Specialize in queues, asynchronous processing, backpressure, Redis, Kubernetes scaling, multi-database architectures, and service communication.
• Lead incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and reliability improvements.
• Improve practices for capacity planning, observability, performance, resilience, and disaster recovery.
• Collaborate to ensure high availability and operational excellence.
• Maintain hands-on coding involvement (25-33%) on technically challenging problems.
