Staff AI Engineer

About The Role

As a Staff AI Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering highly scalable, next-generation AI products within our AI stack, specifically focusing on Agentic AI Systems. You will thrive in a technically rich environment alongside talented peers, contributing to product strategy, architecture, and execution while influencing the evolution of Teradata's capabilities.

What You'll Do

• Architect & Build: Design, architect, develop, and maintain high-quality systems with an emphasis on scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Collaborate: Work cross-functionally to shape architecture and deliver end-to-end features for our AI platform.
• Develop APIs & Databases: Build robust RESTful APIs ensuring security and data consistency. Utilize SQL and NoSQL databases for efficient data modeling.
• Leverage AI/ML: Apply emerging technologies including agentic AI, LLMs, and AI-powered engineering tools to boost productivity.
• Mentor & Optimize: Guide engineers in best practices, resolve performance bottlenecks, optimize code/architecture, and ensure production stability through rigorous testing.

The Team

You will join a high-performing team building core components of Teradata's AI platform. Collaborate with peers across the globe to directly impact our product roadmap.

Qualifications: What Makes You Qualified (Non-negotiable)

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years building backend services, distributed systems, or data platforms.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Go, or Python.
• Mastery of design principles and RESTful API development.
• Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases and containerization (Kubernetes).

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with messaging systems like Kafka.
• Hands-on experience implementing AI/ML, Agentic AI, or LLMs.
• A track record of driving engineering best practices and mentoring others.
