About This Role

AMD's Quality Engineering team is seeking an Associate QA Engineer to build, execute, and scale automated test suites for our core memory-tiering agent and central management platform. You will collaborate closely with developers to ensure the stability of low-level Linux systems and high-performance prefetching engines.

You will utilize a comprehensive test environment to practice robust automation daily, leveraging modern AI tools to accelerate development while focusing on the core semantics of test behaviors rather than just syntax. While automation is central to scaling and regression testing, some manual testing expertise is also expected.

The Person

We are looking for a QA Engineer with proven experience in software testing, quality assurance (QA), or systems validation. The ideal candidate will possess advanced Linux knowledge, intermediate Python scripting skills, and bring endless curiosity about how complex low-level software and hardware systems interact.

You must thrive in a fast-moving, high-velocity environment, working independently to manage rapidly changing priorities while engaging as an active team player who communicates with empathy across technical and non-technical audiences. Your goal is to consistently drive improvements that make processes better, faster, and more cost-effective.

Key Responsibilities

• Write, execute, and maintain automated integration and smoke tests daily using Radish/Cucumber and Python.
• Design and conduct systems-level testing and benchmarking of the memory management platform under real-world workloads.
• Reproduce, troubleshoot, and document field-reported issues within local testbeds.
• Leverage AI coding assistants to automate boilerplate tasks, focusing on system semantics, test design, and edge-case validation.
• Produce clear technical documentation, bug reports, and testing updates.
• Provide operational feedback to the CI/CD team to improve the testing environment.
• Deploy ephemeral test environments on demand via Ansible on GCP or AWS platforms.
• Create new test cases using adhoc or scheduled tests to discover corner case scenarios.

Requirements

• 9+ years in software testing, QA, or system validation within a product development company.
• Advanced Linux knowledge (CLI, system services, core OS concepts).
• A key role played in Software Quality for an Enterprise-class software product.
• Strong scripting skills in C/C++, Python, and other relevant languages.
• Familiarity with implementing process adherence within development environments using tools like GitHub, Ansible, Cucumber/Radish, and Jira.
• A genuine curiosity about low-level software/hardware interactions.
• An ability to work independently amid rapidly changing priorities.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
