About the Role
Own Every Moment at NetApp. As a Senior Storage Engineer, you will lead the design, operation, and evolution of our enterprise storage infrastructure across hybrid on-prem and cloud data centers (ONTAP, Amazon FSx, Azure CVO, OCI, StorageGRID). You'll serve as a trusted technical advisor for critical platforms ensuring high availability, scalability, security, and resilience.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, operate, and evolve NetApp platforms including NAS, SAN, and object storage technologies like SnapMirror, SnapVault, FlexCache, and S3 endpoints.
- Manage enterprise services across global workloads, performing provisioning, migrations, disaster recovery, backup, compliance, retention, data protection, and cost optimization.
- Embed security (encryption, tenant controls) and reliability into all integrations to enable growth without increasing risk.
- Cultivate an AI-first culture by leveraging tools like Copilot CLI, VS Code, Agentic AI platforms, and workflow orchestration for automation and analysis.
- Automate storage operations using PowerShell, Python, Ansible, Terraform, REST APIs, and ONTAP CLI/API.
- Monitor health, performance, capacity, and alerts; proactively identify risks, lead remediation, and perform root-cause analysis on complex issues involving hardware, firmware, protocols, and application integration.
Tech Stack & Skills
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams (VMware, Windows/Linux/Cloud/Databases) requiring expertise in TCP/IP networking, SAN fabrics (Fiber Channel/iSCSI/NVMe-oF), NAS protocols (NFS/CIFS/SMB), and operating systems including Solaris, Red Hat Linux, and Windows.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 12 years of experience in a large data center environment handling hundreds of petabytes of data.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Sciences (or equivalent).
- Deep knowledge of AI patterns: Retrieval-Augmented Generation, LLMs, MCP, Human-in-the-Loop practices.
- Experience with microservices, containers, databases, and distributed systems across AWS, Azure, OCI, and GCP.
