Sr. Staff SW QA Engineer

About the Role

Gigamon is seeking a highly skilled Senior Staff Software Quality Assurance Engineer to join our dynamic Test Automation Infrastructure team. This role is crucial in building robust infrastructure tools, automating system and application deployment pipelines, and collaborating with QA and development teams to engineer scalable software systems. You will be instrumental in enhancing our technical capacity to foster a strong CI/CD environment, ensure scalability under load, and significantly improve our continuous software release capabilities. We encourage creative problem-solving and empower our engineers to take calculated risks in designing and implementing innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Enhance Test Automation: Analyze and improve our existing test automation infrastructure to meet evolving requirements.
• Support CI/CD Pipelines: Collaborate with product development squads to build, maintain, and support CI/CD pipelines and their underlying infrastructure code.
• Develop Cloud Solutions: Implement and expand expertise in public cloud platforms like VMware, OpenStack, AWS, Azure, and GCP for product development and support.
• Contribute to Product Development: Provide technical reviews and insights to guide the planning and development of future products within an infrastructure context.
• Promote Best Practices: Guide teams in adopting infrastructure best practices for new service development.
• Implement IT Infrastructure: Develop, maintain, monitor, and support IT infrastructure with a strong emphasis on automation for seamless code deployment (CI/CD).
• Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Design and implement efficient procedures for system troubleshooting and ongoing maintenance.
• Automate Processes: Drive and implement automation across various processes to boost efficiency and reliability.
• Cybersecurity Measures: Identify and deploy effective cybersecurity measures through continuous vulnerability assessments and risk management.
• Optimize CI/CD Tools: Select and deploy appropriate CI/CD tools to streamline continuous integration, development, and deployment workflows.
• Commit to Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement by adhering to DevOps and Agile principles to optimize workflows and outcomes.
• Explore AI Applications: Investigate and implement the use of AI for internal tool development.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related field.
• Over 11 years of hands-on experience in quality assurance, development, and/or automation within the virtualization and networking domains.
• Proficient in test automation and scripting languages, particularly Python.
• Hands-on experience with Python, Terraform, Ansible, and Robot Framework.
• Working knowledge of current virtualization software, tools, protocols, and standards, including vCenter, VMware ESXi/NSX-T, and Microsoft Hyper-V.
• Working knowledge of public/private cloud environments such as Amazon EC2, Azure, and OpenStack.
• Experience with messaging systems like Kafka, RabbitMQ.
• Experience with databases such as Mongo, Elastic, and Redis.
• Good understanding of network protocols including DNS, DHCP, DDNS, and TLS/HTTP(S).
• Demonstrated experience in testing highly scalable and fault-tolerant systems, including software upgrades, distributed control, and redundancy.
• Proven ability to design solutions for scalability and develop solutions for testing under stress conditions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• A genuine passion for developing new tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with network testing equipment such as Spirent, Avalanche, TREX.
• Experience with GUI-based test automation tools like Selenium and Protractor.
• Experience with Security/Certifications testing in a cloud environment.
• Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT and CoPilot.
