Sr Staff Software Engineer

Role Overview

The Risk team plays a crucial role in Uber's mission to protect users from malicious intent while ensuring powerful, intuitive experiences. As part of this full-stack, cross-functional engineering team, you will tackle challenging problems across Backend, Frontend, Data, and ML spaces.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate strategic business or technical problems into executable designs.
• Build reliable, high-quality solutions that scale with Uber's engineering processes.
• Drove ongoing efficiency through design, automation, monitoring, and capacity planning.
• Mentor teammates, define coding standards, and lead initiatives to improve availability and performance.

What You'll Need

• A BS or MS in Computer Science (or equivalent) with 10+ years of experience building large-scale distributed systems.
• Coding excellence in JS, Java, or GO; strong architecture skills including consensus and data consistency models.
• Exceptional communication abilities to write specs, provide feedback, and collaborate across teams.
• A passion for mentorship, learning, and helping engineering teams grow.

In-Office Requirements
