Sr. Software Engineer

OpenText is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, a Java Full Stack Developer, for our Hyderabad, Telangana, India location. In this role, you will leverage your extensive knowledge and experience to undertake highly complex product design, systems analysis, research, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities. You will be instrumental in driving innovation for both your team and product development.

Your responsibilities will include determining operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions. You will develop high-quality server-side software design and architecture, producing reusable, high-quality code according to design specifications. Key to this role are your complex problem-solving skills, your ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and fix highly complex code defects, and your strong hands-on technical and coding/scripting skills. You will propose creative solutions or alternatives, balancing risk, complexity, and effort to meet requirements, and lead code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to industry standards.

To succeed in this role, you should possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, with over 6 years of software development experience. Essential skills include strong problem-solving, analytical, design, and coding abilities, with experience across the entire software development lifecycle, including analysis, design, implementation, and integration testing. You must have hands-on experience with Java, JSP/Servlets, EJB, REST API, SpringBoot, Spring Web, Spring REST, and Spring Security. Proficiency in front-end technologies such as HTML5, Object-Oriented JavaScript, CSS3, and experience with UI frameworks like React JS or Angular is required. You should also have hands-on experience with relational databases like Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL, and build scripts such as Ant, GIT, Maven, or Gradle. Knowledge of application servers like JBoss and TomEE, and messaging services like RabbitMQ or ActiveMQ is expected. A good understanding of web security aspects and experience in fixing vulnerabilities identified by scanning tools is important. Familiarity with VMWare, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud deployments (CI/CD) would be advantageous. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for effective collaboration with engineering teams.
