Role: Senior Software Engineer – Java Backend Developer
About the Team:
This position supports the HR AI Shed, a cross-functional team of approximately 8–12 members operating under a hybrid U.S.–India delivery model. The team combines product leadership with software engineering (frontend/backend), agent development, data engineering, and platform capabilities to accelerate HR AI delivery through reusable solutions like HR Compass.
Job Summary:
You will design, build, and support secure, scalable backend solutions for the HR AI Shed using Java, Spring Boot, Python-based AI development, and microservices. You will deliver intelligent HR capabilities including AI agents, tool integrations, workflow orchestration, and data-driven services in a cloud-native environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop scalable backend applications and microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs. Build Python services for automation and AI-enabled components.
- Implement AI agents using MCP, ADK, tool integrations, and orchestration patterns; establish secure integrations between AI services and enterprise systems.
- Create event-driven solutions leveraging Kafka for asynchronous processing and real-time data exchange.
- Design, optimize, and maintain data models in PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and other databases. Build resilient distributed systems with error handling, observability, logging, monitoring, Docker containerization, and Kubernetes deployment.
- Develop CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Maven, Gradle; apply secure software development practices including encryption, secrets management, and vulnerability remediation.
- Collaborate across product, architecture, data, AI, security, and platform teams to deliver production-ready solutions.
- Participate in code reviews, technical design sessions, and production support activities.
- Mentor engineers on best practices and drive continuous improvement within the team.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Skill Set Required:
- Strong hands-on expertise with Java, Spring Boot, microservices architecture, and REST APIs.
- Experience with event streaming platforms like Kafka for asynchronous processing.
- Deep knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL systems (MongoDB).
- Proficiency in containerization using Docker and orchestration via Kubernetes.
- Expertise in building CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, Maven, Gradle.
- Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts including observability, resilience patterns, and security practices.
Secondary Skills (Desired):
- Python for backend services or AI development.
- Experience developing AI agents using MCP, ADK, tool integrations.
