Sr Software Engineer

HERE Technologies is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with a specialization in AI & ML for their Mumbai, India office. This role involves implementing tools to enhance map data processing, both automated and semi-automated, utilizing backend/service-based software stacks and dashboard components for data tracking and analysis. The successful candidate will drive technical excellence in an innovative, fast-paced environment, owning and extending CI/CD tools and end-to-end software stack ownership, including DevOps and testing. Collaboration is key, working closely with full-stack and frontend engineers to refine APIs and system integrations, and with other engineering teams and internal customers to identify opportunities and solve complex problems using backend development expertise. The role also involves cross-functional collaboration for quality certification, operational work, and publication, becoming an expert in leveraging internal platform resources and APIs. You will drive the development of efficient, reusable, and reliable software through agile methodologies, coding practices, and verification. As part of an agile team, you will share knowledge and conduct code reviews.

• Responsibilities:
• Implement tools for automated and semi-automated map data processing (backend/service stacks, dashboards).
• Drive technical excellence and in-depth solutions.
• Apply and extend CI/CD tools, ensuring end-to-end ownership of software stacks (DevOps, testing).
• Collaborate with full-stack and frontend engineers on APIs and integrations.
• Work with engineering teams and internal customers to identify needs and solve problems.
• Engage with cross-functional teams for quality, operations, and publication.
• Become an expert in internal platform resources and APIs.
• Contribute to the development of efficient, reusable, and reliable software.
• Participate in an agile team, sharing knowledge and performing code reviews.
• Qualifications:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or equivalent.
• 3+ years of software development experience.
• Proficiency in using AI-powered coding assistants (e.g., Copilot) for coding, debugging, testing, and documentation.
• Knowledge and experience in Python or scripting languages for triage.
• Hands-on experience with data analysis and data-driven decision-making.
• Strong understanding of Data Structures & Algorithms.
• Applied experience in REST-based web service technologies, JSON, XML, SOA, and microservices architectures.
• Strong applied AWS skills (EMR, EC2, S3, RDS) and virtualization tools like Docker.
• Ability to translate business and architectural features into quality software designs.
• Solid knowledge of programming practices, emphasizing reusable, flexible, and reliable code.
• Strong quality mindset, including unit testing, regression testing, performance testing, and instrumentation.
