Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (Sr. SDET) - Remote

DataBahn.ai is seeking a highly experienced Sr. SDET to lead the architecture and evolution of our company-wide test automation platforms and frameworks. This role involves cross-team ownership for backend, data pipeline, and AI components, driving significant improvements in our quality engineering practices.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the architecture and evolution of company-wide test automation platforms and frameworks (cross-team ownership for backend, data pipelines, and AI components).
• Define and enforce strategic CI/CD guardrails: standardized pipelines, advanced quality gates, automated promotion rules, and zero-downtime release patterns.
• Drive organization-level visibility: centralized quality dashboards, predictive flakiness analysis, coverage trends, escape metrics, and executive reporting.
• Own non-functional testing strategy: performance/load at scale (terabyte data simulation), reliability/chaos engineering, security scanning in pipelines, and cost-impact testing.
• Champion shift-left and quality culture: influence design for testability, conduct architecture reviews for quality risks, and partner with staff/SSE devs on systemic improvements.
• Lead release management maturity: define release criteria, risk models, canary/dark launches, rollback automation, and post-release health checks under EM leadership.
• Mentor Senior SDETs and cross-functional teams: deep reviews, coaching on advanced automation, framework patterns, and quality engineering best practices.
• Research/evaluate new tools/approaches (e.g., AI-assisted test generation, observability in tests) and drive adoption to raise the quality bar.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's/Master's in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 8-12+ years in quality engineering/automation, with proven framework/platform leadership.
• Expert-level proficiency in test framework development (Golang strongly preferred; deep experience aligning test code with production stack).
• Mastery of CI/CD ecosystems: pipeline-as-code, advanced gating, integration with observability/monitoring tools.
• Broad expertise across testing types: functional (API/integration/E2E), non-functional (performance, resilience, security basics), and chaos engineering.
• Track record of owning cross-team quality initiatives: metrics programs, escape root-cause analysis, and significant reduction in production issues.
• Strong influence without authority: partnering with engineering leads, presenting quality strategy, driving standards.
• Experience in high-scale distributed systems (event-driven, microservices, and big data flows preferred).
• Strategic mindset for quality in AI-powered platforms; mentoring seniors and passion for scalable, reliable releases.
